This is the part of roofing that does not scale. A turret has no straight courses — each slate is cut narrower than the one below it, and the taper has to stay even the whole way up or the eye catches it immediately from the street.
The blend running through it is deliberate too. Slate arrives in a range of tones and a roofer either mixes it across the roof or leaves it in bands that read as a mistake ten years later.
A roof like this one is not a weekend. It is weeks of access, staging and cutting, on a house where getting it wrong is expensive and obvious.
Which is the real argument for hiring someone local and licensed rather than whoever answers first. If something needs looking at in five years, Nipomo is a short drive and the license number on this page is still the same one.

Leo, you don’t know me. I’m Matthew, and I build websites for contractors on the Central Coast. I built this one before asking, because it is easier to look at a real page than to listen to a pitch.
Here is what I noticed, and it is the whole reason I picked you. Your Google listing has a website link on it. It goes to your Facebook page. I clicked it the way a customer would — not logged in — and Facebook put a login box over the whole thing before I could read a word about you.
Everything you have built up is sitting behind that. Twelve reviews, all five stars. A license that reads current and active, with a real crew on the workers’ comp policy and two million dollars of liability insurance filed with the state. And the roofs themselves — the three photographs on this page are yours, taken off your own profile, and the slate work in them is the reason I picked up the phone rather than moving on to the next name.
One more thing, and it has nothing to do with me building you a website. Your license record at the state carries a line under Additional Status: “Before the license can be renewed active or reactivated, the corporation’s status at the Secretary of State’s Office must be returned to active.” Your license reads current and active today and expires November 30. I don’t know what sits behind that note and it is not my business to guess, but if nobody has told you, it seemed worth ten seconds of your time to look at.
Everything here came from public sources: your own job photos, your license record from the state, and your reviews quoted with the reviewers’ names. Even the colors are sampled off your own slate and sky rather than picked out of the air. Nothing is stock and nothing is invented.
